Sunday Re-Read: Vaccines, Supply Chain Shortage, Elon Musk's Robots, and the Mandate
Author's note: I wrote this essay in September; some things may be slightly out of date, but given the recent news, I think it's evergreen.
I'm re-sending this essay because it's applicable, given the news events over the last week.
President Biden nominated a permanent Commissioner for the Food Drug Administration (FDA), Dr. Robert Califf. The acting Commissioner, Janet Woodcock, has been at the agency nearly my entire life (okay, that was a slight jab, sorry).
Moderna is battling with the U.S. government over patent rights. Pfizer is seeking FDA approval for booster eligibility for all adults. The drug manufacturer Merck and Pfizer have a COVID-19 pill (it received approval in the U.K.), and the Biden Administration's vaccine or test mandate is winding through the federal courts.

We're launching an audio series called "Negroes and Guns," where we'll explore New York's gun control law, what happens at the Supreme Court, and gun control policy in the U.S.
I hope you'll join us! We're starting with two books Robert F. Williams' book, Negroes with Guns and Dr. Carol Anderson's latest book: The Second: Race and Guns in a Fatally Unequal America (which I highly recommend). We'll also include written articles by a legal scholar, Nicholas Johnson.
I'll be sending more details soon!
